Kristen Frantzen Orr Glass Beadmaking Workshops
Surface Florals for Glass Beads (two days) includes construction of a number of different types of stringers and round and flat striped canes. These components will be used to produce various kinds of flowers placed on the surface of the bead. A variety of base beads suitable for floral decoration will be explored. These base beads are also lovely with no floral decoration. This is my most popular class!
Flowers Inside and Out (two days) includes one day of encased paperweight style floral beads and one day of striped cane surface floral beads. Day one covers simple poked dot flowers, multi layered flowers, simple murrini making and use. Day two covers striped cane construction and application for a basic surface floral design.
Floral Intensive (four days; or split into two separate two-day classes) is an expanded version of Flowers Inside and Out that includes two days of encased paperweight style floral beads and more complex murrini; and two days of Surface Florals for Glass Beads as described above.
Beads to Bracelets (two days) includes one day of glass beadmaking techniques including dots, stripes, simple encasements, silvered glass, selecting a color palette, and making consistent sized beads to be used in bracelet design. Day two is spent making bracelets incorporating three different techniques using leather and Chinese knotting cord. All bracelet supplies will be provided by the instructor.
