We spent about four hours on the way up. The wildflowers were glorious and we stopped to photograph each species.
When you are about two thirds of the way, the trail crosses the creek flowing out off Island Lake. We had our picnic lunch here by the bridge and waterfall.
Can you see the tiny island in the middle of the lake? Elevation here is 9800 feet. (Click on the photo for a larger view.)
Going down...this only took us about 45 minutes. Elevation gain to the lake is about 900 feet from the trail head to the lake.
